The Pokémon Company’s newest app, Pokémon Sleep, is launching in this summer. Along with the app, a new device will debut and it’ll be compatible with Pokémon GO. Building on the Pokémon GO Plus device line, Pokémon GO Plus + will offer some additional bonuses in Pokémon GO. (Yes, that is the official name. Welcome to the branding era of the Nintendo 3DS and New Nintendo 3DS.) To celebrate the upcoming launch of the app, a two-day sleepy-themed event will be active in Pokémon GO. (For more details about the Season of Hidden Gems, you can check out our overall Season of Hidden Gems guide hub.)

Now, check out what’s happening during the Catching Some Zs event with our guide below:

Pokémon GO’s Season of Hidden Gems – Catching Some Z’s

Begins: Saturday, July 15th, 2023 at 10 a.m. your local time.

Ends: Sunday, July 16th, 2023 at 8 p.m. your local time.

Pokémon debuts – Komala and Costumed Snorlax

There are two new debuts during the event:

  • Komala: You’ll only find Komala out in the wild (and that’s if you’re lucky!) during this event.
  • Snorlax wearing a nightcap (Costumed Snorlax)*: Trainers who wish to encounter this special Costumed Snorlax* must buy a Pokémon GO Plus + device and sync it to their Pokémon GO account. Once done, they’ll receive a Special Research Story where this Costumed Snorlax* is a reward catch encounter.
    • Note: Each Pokémon GO Plus + device will only issue this Special Research Story once. Therefore you can’t share devices as well as take a risk at buying one used/secondhand.

Note: Going forward, these Pokémon will be referred to as “Costumed” rather than the exact outfit they are wearing.

Event Bonuses

  • None are currently announced on the official Pokémon GO blog.
