There isn’t a big event this week in Pokémon GO, so the Choose Your Path Timed Research event is back! This time though there are a few changes to the Choose Your Path event, with theming, Field Research tasks, and multiple options for the Timed Research (along with the chance of it being reset daily for Trainers).

Pokémon GO’s Season of Forever Forward – Choose Your Path: Fossil Fun

Begins: Wednesday, June 17th, 2026 at 10 a.m. your local time.

Ends: Sunday, June 21st, 2026 at 8 p.m. your local time.

 

Event Bonuses

  • One of the following bonuses may be active for the duration of the event OR per day once a path is selected in the event’s Timed Research:
    • Explore:
      • Trainers under level 40: 5× XP for spinning PokéStops.
      • PokéStops route: 5× XP for spinning PokéStops.
      • Hatch route: 1/2 Egg Hatch Distance.
    • Catch: 
      • Trainers under level 40: 1. 5× XP for catching Pokémon with Nice Throws or better.
      • XP route: 1. 5× XP for catching Pokémon with Nice Throws or better.
      • Candy route: Get additional Candy for catching Pokémon with Nice Throws or better.
    • Battle:
      • Trainers under level 40: Get an additional 5,000 XP for completing Raids.
      • Raids route: Get an additional 5,000 XP for completing Raids.
      • Team GO Rocket route: Get extra Mysterious Components from Team GO Rocket Grunts.

 

And if Trainers reach specific ranks in the GO Pass and/or GO Pass Deluxe, then the following bonuses will also be active until Tuesday, July 7th, 2026 at 10 a.m. your local time:

  • Tier 1 (Rank 1):
    • One additional Candy for trading Pokémon.
    • Trainers level 31 and above will receive one guaranteed Candy XL when trading Pokémon.
  • Tier 2 (Rank 25): 
    • Open up to 40 Gifts per day.
    • Receive up to 125 Gifts per day from spinning PokéStop and Gym Photo Discs.
    • Hold up to 10 additional Gifts in your Item Bag.
  • Tier 3 (Rank 50):
    • 2× Daily Adventure Incense duration.
  • Tier 4 (Rank 75):
    • Increased Stardust and XP from hatching Eggs.

If GO Pass Deluxe is purchased, then the following bonuses will active when Rank 25 is reached instead, until Tuesday, July 7th, 2026 at 10 a.m. your local time:

  • Tier 2 (Rank 25):
    • Open up to 50 Gifts per day.
    • Receive up to 150 Gifts per day from spinning PokéStop and Gym Photo Discs.
    • Hold up to 20 additional Gifts in your Item Bag.

 

Event Boxes

If any special event boxes or bundles are released during the event, they’ll be listed here once the event is live. Daily bundles are also available and can be viewed online via the Pokémon GO Web Store.

 

Raids

Standard and Shadow Raids will be active during the event.

 

Standard Raids

The following Pokémon will be appearing in Raids:

  • One-Star Raids: Omanyte*, Kabuto*, Beldum*, and Rockruff*.
  • Three-Star Raids: Aerodactyl*, Druddigon*, and Hisuian Decidueye*.
  • Five-Star Raids: Necrozma* (starting on Wednesday, June 17th, 2026 at 6 a.m. your local time).
  • Mega Raids: Mega Scizor* (starting on Wednesday, June 17th, 2026 at 6 a.m. your local time.

Shadow Raids

The following Pokémon will be appearing in Shadow Raids:

  • One-Star Shadow Raids: Shadow Horsea*, Shadow Porygon*, Shadow Beldum*, and Shadow Golett*.
  • Three-Star Shadow Raids: Shadow Alolan Marowak*, Shadow Hitmonlee*, and Shadow Gligar*.
  • Five-Star Shadow Raids: Shadow Dialga*.

  • Pokémon marked with an * means that “If you’re lucky, you might encounter a Shiny one!”
  • Standard Raids:
    • Necrozma* will be available after the event (in Five-Star Raids), until Tuesday, June 23rd, 2026 at 10 p.m. your local time.
    • Mega Scizor* will be available after the event (in Mega Raids), until Tuesday, June 23rd, 2026 at 10 p.m. your local time.
  • Shadow Raids:
    • One-, Three-, and Five-Star Shadow Raids will be available daily.

Max Battles will be active during the event.

    • Six-Star Max Battles cost 800 MP.

 

Timed Research – Fossil Fun Timed Research and Choose Your Path Timed Research

A free Timed Research quest called Fossil Fun will be active during the event. Once completed it will turn into Choose Your Path Timed Research. Depending on your Trainer level, you’ll be given three to six different possible routes to choose from. Regardless of what route is chosen, all will give Trainers the same item rewards and catch encounters (though the specialized routes with have two less catch encounters compared to the “Explore”, “Catch”, and “Battle” routes). The only difference is which event bonus will be active. Trainers may only pick one of the following:

 

  • Explore:
    • Trainers under level 40: 5× XP for spinning PokéStops.
    • PokéStops route: 5× XP for spinning PokéStops.
    • Hatch route: 1/2 Egg Hatch Distance.
  • Catch: 
    • Trainers under level 40: 1. 5× XP for catching Pokémon with Nice Throws or better.
    • XP route: 1. 5× XP for catching Pokémon with Nice Throws or better.
    • Candy route: Get additional Candy for catching Pokémon with Nice Throws or better.
  • Battle:
    • Trainers under level 40: Get an additional 5,000 XP for completing Raids.
    • Raids route: Get an additional 5,000 XP for completing Raids.
    • Team GO Rocket route: Get extra Mysterious Components from Team GO Rocket Grunts.

 

Please be aware that this Timed Research may reset daily, allowing Trainers to pick a different path the next day. A complete list of tasks for all routes and the rewards will be shared here once the event is live.
