The Season of Alola continues with its second event! This time it’ll be a mix of celebrating the Alola region and a cultural festival celebrated all over the world. Once again, Holi will be celebrated in-game as the Festival of Colors. Joining the party this time around are some extremely colorful bird Pokémon that enjoy various styles of dancing too! See what’s happening in our guide below.

 

Pokémon GO’s Season of Alola – Festival of  Colors 2022

Begins: Tuesday, March 15th, 2022 at 10 a.m. your local time.

Ends: Sunday, March 20th, 2022 at 8 p.m. your local time.

 

Event Exclusives for India

Trainers in India will be able to take part in a Regional Challenge as well as have access to a special Event Box that costs 125 PokéCoins.

  • Regional Challenge
    • Task: Catch 2 million Pokémon.
    • Reward: Double Catch Candy.

 

  • Event Box (125 Poké Coins): 1 Lucky Egg, 1 Lure Module, 1 Glacial Lure Module, and 1 Mossy Lure Module.

 

Event Bonuses

  • Lure Modules activated during the event will last for three hours.
  • Take a few snapshots every day during the event for a surprise!* (Pokémon Encounter. Daily limit and the Pokémon currently unconfirmed.)
    • If you’re lucky, you might encounter a Shiny Pokémon!

 

Pokémon Debuts – Oricorio

Keeping with the Alola region theme, another Pokémon from the tropical region will debut during this event. Get ready to tap your feet and dance along to the beat with Oricorio, the Dancing Pokémon. This stylish bird Pokémon has four different Styles – Baile, Pom-Pom, Pa’u, and Sensu – and as such, these Styles will be treated as regional exclusives.

 

 

According to Niantic, you’ll find the four different Oricorio in the following parts of the world:

 

  • Baile Style: Appearing in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
  • Pom-Pom Style: Appearing in the Americas.
  • Pa’u Style: Appearing in African, Asian, Pacific, and Caribbean islands.
  • Sensu Style: Appearing in the Asia-Pacific region.

 

Wild Encounters

  • The following Pokémon will be appearing more frequently in the wild: Drowzee*, Horsea*, Gligar*, Slugma*, Taillow*, Trapinch*, Turtwig*, Croagunk*, Fletchling*, Oricorio (Style is dependent on your location).
    • If you’re lucky, you might encounter the following: Beautifly, Dustox, and Alomomola*.

Raids

The following Pokémon will be appearing in raids:

  • 1-Star Raids: Jigglypuff*, Torchic*, Treecko*, Mudkip*, and Rockruff*.
  • 3-Star Raids: Marowak, Alolan Marowak*, Chansey*, Umbreon, and Druddigon*.
  • 5-Star Raids: Tornadus (Therian Forme)*.
  • Mega Raids: Mega Lopunny*.

Field Research Tasks

New event-exclusive Field Research Tasks will be available and the rewards this time around are a variety of Pokémon and Mega Energy. These Field Research Tasks can be found when spinning PokéStops (and acquired if you have an open slot in your Field Research menu) when the event is active.

 

  • Task: Catch 3 Grass-type Pokémon
    • Reward: Bulbasaur* Encounter OR 20 Venusaur Mega Energy
  • Task: Catch 3 Fire-type Pokémon
    • Reward: Charmander* Encounter OR 20 Charizard Mega Energy
  • Task: Catch 3 Water-type Pokémon
    • Reward: Squirtle* Encounter OR 20 Blastoise Mega Energy
  • Task: Catch 5 different species of Pokémon
    • Reward: Burmy (Plant Cloak)*, Burmy (Sandy Cloak)*, OR Burmy (Trash Cloak)* Encounter
  • Task: Catch 8 different species of Pokémon
    • Reward: Castform*, Castform (Sunny Form), Castform (Rainy Form)*, OR Castform (Snowy Form) Encounter
  • Task: Catch 10 different species of Pokémon
    • Reward: Oricorio (Baile Style), Oricorio (Pom-Pom Style), Oricorio (Pa’u Style), OR Oricorio (Sensu Style) Encounter
      • The Oricorio Style’s will be based on your location (i.e.: Trainers in the Americas would always get Pom-Pom Style).
  • Task: Hatch an Egg
    • Reward: Alolan Grimer* Encounter

Collection Challenge

The 2nd Season of Alola event will have a “colorful” Collection Challenge.

  • Pokémon to collect via Catching: Slugma, Trapinch, Drowzee, Turtwig, Horsea, Taillow, Gligar, and Oricorio.
    • The Oricorio Style’s will be based on your location (i.e.: Trainers in the Americas would always get Pom-Pom Style).
  • Rewards: 20,000 XP, 3,000 Stardust, an Oricorio Encounter (Style is based on your region), and an addition to your Elite Collector medal.

 

Avatar Items

Celebrate the Festival of Colors in style with in-game t-shirts for your Avatar! These shirts were previously released, and are available for free within the game’s Avatar Style menu.
