After having a month of tinkering with Max Battles and leveling up our Dynamax Pokémon, it’s time to challenge some Gigantamax Pokémon! Gigantamax Venusaur, Gigantamax Charizard, and Gigantamax Blastoise debut in Six-Star Max Battles and they’ll pose a challenge. Up to 40 Trainers can participate in these Max Battles! (For more details about the Season of Max Out, you can check out our Season of Max Out guide hub.)

Now, check out what’s happening during the GO Bigger event with our guide below:

Pokémon GO’s Season of Max Out – GO Bigger

Begins: Saturday, October 26th, 2024 at 10 a.m. your local time.

Ends: Sunday, October 27th, 2024 at 8 p.m. your local time.

Pokémon featured – Gigantamax Venusaur, Gigantamax Charizard, and Gigantamax Blastoise

Gigantamax Venusaur, Gigantamax Charizard, and Gigantamax Blastoise will be available for the first time in Pokémon GO. While their Dynamax versions were previously available through evolving Dynamax Bulbasaur, Dynamax Charmander, and Dynamax Squirtle, they still couldn’t transform into their Gigantamax versions.

During this event, you can only acquire these Gigantamax Pokémon by challenging them in Six-Star Max Battles. Due to the difficulty of these battles, up to 40 Trainers can team up and defeat these Gigantamax Pokémon.

Event Bonuses

There are no event bonuses for GO Bigger, but since this event is happening during the Halloween Part I event, the following bonuses will be active:

  • 2× Candy for catching Pokémon.
  • Increased chance for Trainers level 31 and up to receive Candy XL for successfully catching Pokémon with Nice Throws or better.
  • Increased chance to encounter Shiny Umbreon in Raids and Shiny Zorua in the wild.
  • A remix of the Lavender Town music will be playing nightly during this year’s Halloween event.
  • Pokémon encounter backgrounds, PokéStops, and Gyms will be decorated for the holiday during both parts of the Halloween event.

Plus, the following bonuses will be available to Trainers who purchase the Morpeko Onesie Premium Timed Research:

  • 3× Catch Candy (will not stack with the 2× Candy for catching Pokémon bonus)
  • Event-themed Pokémon encounters, including the first peek at new costumed Pokémon debuting in Part II of the event—Froakie wearing a Pokémon Halloween costume and Rowlet wearing a Pokémon Halloween costume.
  • Event-themed Pokémon encounters, including Pikachu wearing a witch hat, Spiritomb, and Morpeko.
  • A new avatar item depending on your choice—Morpeko Onesie (Full Belly Mode) or Morpeko Onesie (Hangry Mode).

Event Boxes

If any special event boxes or bundles are released during the event, they’ll be listed here once the event is live. Daily bundles are also available and can be viewed online via the Pokémon GO Web Store.

  • Max Particle Pack (US$7.99, Pokémon GO Web Store only): 6 Max Particle Packs (4,800 Max Particles in total).

Max Battles

Max Battles will be active during the event, yet Gigantamax Venusaur*, Gigantamax Charizard*, and Gigantamax Blastoise* Six-Star Max Battles will be given priority. For more details about Max Battles (how to participate in one), you can check out our Pokémon GO’s Season of Max Out’s Max Battles, Max Particles, Power Spots, and Dynamax Pokémon guide.

  • One-Star Max Battles: Dynamax Gastly*, Dynamax Grookey, Dynamax Scrobunny, and Dynamax Sobble.
  • Three-Star Max Battles: Dynamax Falinks*.
  • Six-Star Max Battles: Gigantamax Venusaur*, Gigantamax Charizard*, and Gigantamax Blastoise*.

Additional Notes:

  • Pokémon marked with an * means that “If you’re lucky, you might encounter a Shiny one!”
  • Max Battles require Max Particles (MP):
    • One-Star Max Battles cost 250 MP.
    • Three-Star Max Battles cost 400 MP.
    • Six-Star Max Battles cost 800 MP.
  • Dynamax Grookey, Dynamax Scrobunny, and Dynamax Sobble will be available in One-Star Max Battles after this event until Thursday, October 31st, 2024 at 9 p.m. your local time.
    • Dynamax Gastly*’s end date in One-Star Max Battles has not been specified.
      • Based on previous data (Dynamax Beldum* in September 2024), more than likely Dynamax Gastly* will be available in One-Star Max Battles after this event until Thursday, October 31st, 2024 at 9 p.m. your local time

Six-Star Max Battles Information

The only difference with Six-Star Max Battles is the difficulty and the amount of Trainers that can participate in a single Max Battles (10 to 40 Trainers) (also, that Gigantamax Pokémon are being featured). You can only bring 3 Dynamax OR Gigantamax Pokémon into battle and you must have 800 MP in order to participate.

For more details on Max Battles (in general), you can check out our Max Battles, Max Particles, Power Spots, and Dynamax Pokémon guide.

Community Check-in (via Campfire) for 800 Max Particles

According to the 2024 Community Update blog post (shared on Friday, October 25th, 2024), Trainers who check into a Campfire event during this Gigantamax event can receive 800 Max Particles for free. (It is unclear if these free Max Particles will not count towards the daily limit.) To find the nearest Community group in your area, you’ll have to download Niantic’s Campfire app.
