Valentine’s Day is almost here, which means it’s time for a parade of pink and heart-themed Pokémon to be featured in Pokémon GO. The event will see some new Pokémon debuts, along with the return of some Pokémon form variants (practice your throws for a Field Research task featuring Spinda).
Plus, this event will have two sub-events. One is dedicated to Luvdisc (Luvdisc Limited Research Day) and the other will be focused on battling it out in the GBL and feature Vulpix reward catch encounters (GO Battle Day: Vulpix). Each sub-event will have its own dedicated guide page:
Note: Guides will be published closer to the sub-events’ start date.
For now, check out what’s happening during the Valentine’s Day Event with our guide below:

Featured Attack for Gardevoir and Gallade
Gardevoir and Gallade obtained during the event will know the attack Synchronoise (Charged Attack). There are two different options for Gardevoir and Gallade learning this Charged Attack. They are:
- Evolving Kirlia into Gardevoir OR Gallade during the event.
- “Encountered after raids[.]” Niantic doesn’t clarify if this will remain active beyond the event due to Mega Gardevoir’s Mega Raid time slot. To be safe, plan your Raid and Catch Encounters during the event (which ends on Tuesday, February 14th, 2023 at 8 p.m. your local time).
Synchronoise’s (Charged Attack) stats are as follows:
- Trainer Battles: 80 power
- Gyms and Raids: 80 power
Form Change Available – Furfrou (Heart Trim)
During the event, Trainers can change a Furfrou’s form into Furfrou (Heart Trim)*. To do so, please follow these steps:
- Select Furfrou in your Pokémon storage, and then tap the Change Form button to bring up a menu that lists the available Trims.
- Select your preferred Trim (in this case, the Heart Trim).
- Changing your Furfrou from one Trim to any other Trim will cost 25 Furfrou Candy and 10,000 Stardust.
Please keep in mind that Furfrou can only be found in the wild, Raids, etc. as Furfrou (Natural Form). All trim forms are exclusive to specific regions or time-sensitive requirements (like Heart Trim only being offered during the Valentine’s Day event).
Timed Research – Lovely Wishes
A branching Timed Research quest called Lovely Wishes will be active during the event. Regardless of what route is chosen, all will give Trainers the same item rewards and catch encounters (including catch encounters with male and female Frillish*). The only difference is which event bonus will be active. Trainers may only pick one of the three:
- XP Bonus: 2× XP when catching Pokémon
- Daily Adventure Incense Bonus: 2× Daily Adventure Incense duration (will be 30 minutes per day during the event)
- Candy Bonus: 2× Candy when catching Pokémon

Plus, enjoy other perks like bonuses, Timed Research, a featured attack for Ninetails, and more. Get all the details with our dedicated GO Battle Day: Vulpix guide. (Guide will be published closer to the sub-event’s start date.)
