Another Legendary Pokémon gets its Dynamax form in Pokémon GO during this Max Battle Weekend event. Trainers, it’s time to team up and take down Dynamax Ho-Oh, and if you’re lucky, you may even encounter a shiny one (provided you defeat Dynamax Ho-Oh in battle).

Pokémon GO’s Season of Precious Paths – Dynamax Ho-Oh Max Battle Weekend

Begins: Saturday, January 31st, 2026 at 6 a.m. your local time.

Ends: Sunday, February 1st, 2026 at 9 p.m. your local time.

 

Pokémon debuts – Dynamax Ho-Oh

 

 

Dynamax Ho-Oh will be featured in Five-Star Max Battles and if you’re lucky, you may even encounter a Shiny Dynamax Ho-Oh.

 

Event Bonuses

  • Max Particle collection limit increased to 1,600
  • 1/4 Adventuring distance to receive Max Particles
    • For this bonus to apply, Trainers must first collect all Max Particles available in the Nearby menu. Trainers can collect Max Particles via the Nearby menu each day by exploring. Adventure Sync can help make sure your distance counts! Keep an eye on the Nearby menu for the icon that shows when Max Particles are ready to collect.
  • Power Spots will refresh more frequently
  • 8× Max Particles from Power Spots

 

If the Event Ticket (that includes a paid Timed Research) is purchased, the following bonuses will be in effect:

  • 2× XP from Max Battles
  • Increased Candy and Candy XL from five-star Max Battles

 

Due to this event taking place during the Into the Depths and February 2026 Community Day events, the following bonuses will also be active during specific times:

  • Into the Depths (until Sunday, February 1st, 2026 at 8 p.m. your local time):
    • 3× XP from completing Routes
    • 1/2 Egg Hatch Distance
    • Increased chance of encountering Shiny Diglett and Shiny Yungoos
    • If Paid Timed Research is purchased: 2× Hatch Candy
  • February 2026 Community Day (Sunday, February 1st, 2026 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. your local time):
    • 3× XP for catching Pokémon
    • 2× Candy for catching Pokémon
    • 2× chance for Trainers level 31 and up to receive XL Candy from catching Pokemon
    • Lure Modules activated during the event will last for three hours (Golden Lure Module excluded) (active from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. your local time)
      • Vulpix and Alolan Vulpix will have an increased chance to be Shiny and may have a Special Background during these extended hours
    • Incense activated during the event will last for three hours (Daily Adventure Incense excluded)
    • Take a few snapshots during Community Day for a surprise! (Vulpix or Alolan Vulpix photobomb spawn. Can be repeated up to 5 times.)
    • Trades made will require 50% less Stardust (active from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. your local time)
    • One additional Special Trade can be made for a maximum of three for the day (active from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. your local time)

 

Plus, the following Season of Precious Paths bonuses will be in effect:

  • One additional Special Trade per day
  • Increased Stardust for the first catch of the day
  • Increased friendship bonus damage dealt by Pokémon in Raids

 

And if Trainers reach specific ranks in the GO Pass and/or GO Pass Deluxe, then the following bonuses will also be active until Tuesday, February 3rd, 2026 at 9 a.m. your local time:

  • Tier 1 (Rank 25): 
    • Open up to 40 Gifts per day
    • Receive up to 125 Gifts per day from spinning PokéStop and Gym Photo Discs
    • Hold up to 10 additional Gifts in your Item Bag
  • Tier 2 (Rank 50):
    • 2× Daily Adventure Incense duration
  • Tier 3 (Rank 75):
    • Additional rewards for completing in-person Raids and Max Battles

If GO Pass Deluxe is purchased, then the following bonuses will also be active when Rank 25 is reached, until Tuesday, February 3rd, 2026 at 9 a.m. your local time:

  • Tier 1 (Rank 25):
    • Open up to 50 Gifts per day
    • Receive up to 150 Gifts per day from spinning PokéStop and Gym Photo Discs
    • Hold up to 20 additional Gifts in your Item Bag

If any special event boxes or bundles are released during the event, they’ll be listed here once the event is live. Daily bundles are also available and can be viewed online via the Pokémon GO Web Store.

  • Dynamax Ho-Oh Max Battle Weekend Ultra Ticket Box (US$4.99, purchase limit 1, Pokémon GO Web Store only): 1 Ticket (Premium Timed Research), 1 Premium Battle Pass, and 60 Reward Points.

 

Max Battles

Max Battles will be active during the event and Dynamax Ho-Oh will be given priority.

  • One-Star Max Battles: Dynamax Bulbasaur*, Dynamax Charmander*, Dynamax Squirtle*, Dynamax Caterpie*,Dynamax Abra*, Dynamax Gastly*, Dynamax Krabby*, Dynamax Omanyte*, Dynamax Kabut0*, Dynamax Ralts*, Dynamax Spheal*, Dynamax Pidove*, Dynamax Roggenrola*, Dynamax Woobat*, Dynamax Drilbur*, Dynamax Trubbish*, Dynamax Inkay*, Dynamax Bounsweet*, Dynamax Grookey, Dynamax Scorbunny, Dynamax Sobble, Dynamax Skwovet*, Dynamax Rookiedee*, Dynamax Wooloo*, and Dynamax Hatenna.
  • Two-Star Max Battles: Dynamax Machop*, Dynamax Eevee*, Dynamax Shuckle*, Dynamax Wailmer*, and Dynamax Darumaka*.
  • Three-Star Max Battles: Dynamax Chansey*, Dynamax Sableye*, Dynamax Beldum*, Dynamax Cryogonal*, Dynamax Passimian*, Dynamax Drampa*, and Dynamax Falinks*.

Timed Research – Dynamax Ho-Oh Max Battle Weekend Lead-Up Timed Research

A Timed Research quest called Dynamax Ho-Oh Max Battle Weekend Lead-Up Timed Research will be active during the event. This Timed Research was released prior to the Max Battle Weekend event to help Trainers prep for Dynamax Ho-Oh.

A complete list of tasks and the rewards will be shared here once the event is live.

 

  • Task: Win a Max Battle
    • Reward: Dynamax Kabuto* encounter
  • Task: Win 2 Max Battles
    • Reward: 25 Kabuto Candies
  • Task: Win3 Max Battles
    • Reward: 25 Kabuto Candies
  • Task: Win 4 Max Battles
    • Reward: 25 Kabuto Candies
  • Task: Win 5 Max Battles
    • Reward: 5 Kabuto Candy XL
  • Completion Rewards: 7,500 Stardust and 1,500 Max Particles

PokéStop Showcase

During the event, PokéStop Showcases will be active. The theme of these contests is to submit the biggest Pokémon being requested. This section will be updated once the PokéStop Showcases are active.

  • Saturday, January 31st, 2026 at 10 a.m. to Sunday, February 1st, 2026 at 8 p.m. your local time: Ho-Oh

 

Paid Ticket – Dynamax Ho-Oh Max Battle Weekend Premium Timed Research

During the Dynamax Ho-Oh Max Battle Weekend event, Trainers can purchase a ticket to access an event-themed Timed Research. For US$4.99 OR US$5.00 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency), you’ll get the Dynamax Ho-Oh Max Battle Weekend Premium Timed Research which rewards Trainers with the following (if tasks are completed within the time limit): 6,400 Max Particles and 25,000 XP. Plus, the following bonuses will also be activated during the event: 2× XP from Max Battles and Increased Candy and Candy XL from Five-Star Max Battles.

According to the fine print, “[t]ickets are nonrefundable (subject to applicable law and the exceptions set forth in the Terms of Service).” Tickets can also be gifted to Trainers you’re friends with provided that you have a Friendship level of Great Friends or higher with them. This can be done via the in-game shop and by selecting the “Gift” button instead of the “Buy” button. Tickets purchased for friends are nonrefundable as well.

Please keep in mind that Timed Research quests have deadlines. Trainers must complete this Timed Research and claim all rewards before Sunday, February 1st, 2026 at 9 p.m. your local time.

Tasks and rewards for this Timed Research will be added once the event is live.
