Leif, hero of Fire Emblem: Thracia 776, returns in Fire Emblem Engage as the Emblem of the Sage-Lord, who will assist your army in its quest.

Leif’s kit is more reminiscent of his Master Knight class in Genealogy of the Holy War than his leading role in Thracia 776, using his mastery of multiple weapon types to gain Weapon Triangle Advantage. Synchro Skill Arms Shield will bolster your defense if you have WTA, and Engage Skill Adaptable will automatically equip the best weapon available when you’re attacked (in terms of range, advantage, effective damage, etc.). His Engage Attack Quadruple Hit attacks with a sword, lance, axe, and bow in succession, making it a useful way to Break opponents. His versatility lends himself well to characters who can equip multiple weapon types, and all of the weapon proficiencies he teaches make him valuable for reclassing purposes. His utility and defensive options make him a versatile Enemy Phase-focused unit well suited for army members who are similarly flexible (or in turn could use a bit of flexibility themselves).

Leif’s first Engage Weapon is the Killer Axe, stronger than the generic version you can obtain and retains the Crit% bonus. His Master Lance not only provides 1-2 range but will strike twice if you initiate combat, providing a vicious offensive option and rare 2-range Brave effect. His trademark Light Brand also has 1-2 range, strikes with magic, and grants a Lck bonus.

How to obtain Leif

Leif will automatically join you after Chapter 8: The Kingdom of Might, a chapter in which he’s paired with the boss. After he joins you, you can equip him to any character you’d like in your next battle.

Who Is Leif?

Leif (VA: Kenichi Suzumura [JP] / Nicolas Roye [EN]) is the ousted prince of Leonster, a land invaded by the cruel forces of Thracia to the south. Thracia’s king, Travant, murdered Leif’s parents in cold blood when he was a child and abducted his sister Altenna to raise as his own, leaving Finn (retainer of Leif’s father Quan) to whisk Leif away to safety. Grown up, Leif takes up arms to fight Thracia and the Empire of Grannvale terrorizing the continent. While he holds the blood of crusaders, his lack of a legendary weapon and perpetual struggles give him an inferiority complex, especially in comparison to his accomplished cousin Seliph. Still, he’ll stop at nothing to avenge his family and set things right.
