Pokémon’s fourth generation was full of evolutions, including a handful that utilized newly introduced held items to trigger them. These can happen by either leveling up or being traded while holding the necessary item, though a few have additional requirements, such as being locked to a certain time. One of these evolutions is Dusknoir, the Gen IV evolution of Gen I’s Electabuzz.

Read on to learn where to find Elekid and Electabuzz and eventually evolve them into Electivire!

Where to find Elekid and Electabuzz in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

Electivire was the new evolution of Electabuzz, obtainable only via trading with its own held item – the Electirizer. While Elekid could previously be caught by slotting a copy of Fire Red into your DS while playing a Gen IV game, now it’s only available in the Grand Underground, exclusively in Brilliant Diamond. Be on the lookout for Elekid as a rare spawn in various Pokémon Hideaways like the Dazzling Cave, Whiteout Cave, Stargleam Cavern, and Glacial Cavern (if you see sparkling rocks, you’re in the right place), and then get it to level 30 to evolve into Electabuzz.

If you have Shining Pearl, your only hopes of getting an Elekid or Electabuzz are by trading from Brilliant Diamond.

How to evolve Electabuzz into Electivire in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

Once you have Electabuzz, you’ll need an Electirizer. After hunting one down (see below), you’ll be able to trade your Electabuzz while it holds the Electirizer to evolve it into Electivire.

Where to find an Electirizer in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

The only way to get an Electirizer in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond is by catching or stealing one from a wild Elekid in the Grand Underground. There, Elekid have a 5% chance of holding one. You can catch Elekid, or use an attack like Thief to try and snag it from any that you come across.

In Shining Pearl, the only way to get an Electirizer is by trading one from Brilliant Diamond.
