Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are chock full of amazing Legendaries to obtain, and one of the most stunning has to be Cresselia! Unlike other Legendary Pokémon, the Psychic-type Cresselia is pretty straight forward to obtain. Here’s everything you need to do!

Obtain the National Pokédex

Cresselia is obtainable only after you obtain the National Pokédex. To do this, you need to encounter each of the Sinnoh region’s 151 Pokémon at least once. Once this is completed, head over to Sandgem Town and find Professor Rowan. Professor Oak will make a surprise appearance and upgrade your Pokédex with National Mode!

Do you have to catch every Pokémon to complete the National Pokédex in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl?

Nope! You don’t have to catch every single Pokémon — all you have to do is just see them at some point, either from wild Pokémon encounters, trainer battles, or being shown Pokédex entries by NPCs. That’s certainly easier than catching all of them!

Wake the sleeping boy on Fullmoon Island

Once obtained, make your way to Canalave City and head to the house with a child laying in bed located in the southwest of the city, next to the docks. Speak with the child and you will learn that he is having a nightmare and can’t wake up! Exist the home and speak to the sailor just to the right of the house. After a brief conversation, he will ask you to accompany him to Fullmoon Island to find the Lunar Feather to wake up his son.

Once on Fullmoon Island, you will quickly encounter Cresselia in the forest. Sadly, Cresselia has not intention on getting captured and teleports away, leaving the Lunar Feather on the ground where they once were. With the Lunar Feather in hand, speak to the sailor once again and head back to town to wakeup the boy from his fiendish dream.

The hunt is on!

Now that the boy has awakened, Cresselia can be hunted. That’s right: Cresselia is a roaming Pokémon. To make things easier, you can use the handy Marking Map app on the Pokétch to see where Cresselia is currently roaming. Remember, though: Like all other roaming Pokémon, Cresselia will change locations any time you change locations. Once your location lines up with Cresselia’s on the Marking Map App, roam around some tall grass to trigger an encounter.

Catching Cresselia

Cresselia will be Lvl. 50 when you encounter her, and will know the moves Slash, Psycho Cut, Moonlight, and Safeguard.

Cresellia is a Psychic-type Pokémon with a 100% chance of being female. Her Ability is Levitate, which makes her immune to Ground-type damaging moves. Cresselia also has a Catch Rate of 3, meaning you only have a 1.6% chance of successfully catching her when using a standard Poké Ball at her full health.

These odds will improve the more damage you do to her and by using higher quality Poké Balls, like Ultra Balls. Like all roaming Pokémon, the Lunar Pokémon Cresselia is prone to run from battle. So make sure to stock up on Pokémon that can inflict status effects like Paralyze and Sleep to maximize your chances! Good luck!
