While Sinnoh has a fairly modest Pokédex of its own, it did give plenty of Pokémon much needed evolutions. Several new methods were introduced, including evolution brought about by knowing certain moves. Seven evolutions were move dependent in Gen IV, and have remained so in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. One of these evolutions is Mamoswine, the Gen IV evolution of Gen II’s Piloswine.

Read on to learn how to evolve Piloswine into Mamoswine, and where to find Swinub!

Where to find Swinub in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

Getting a Mamoswine starts with catching a Swinub, which can be found in certain Pokémon Hideaways of the Grand Underground. If you’ve found one with ice and snow, you should be able to encounter Swinub as a rare spawn. You’ll also be able to find it as a randomly occurring daily swarm on Route 217 once you’ve gained the National Pokédex. Piloswine, Mamoswine’s immediate pre-evolution, cannot be found in the wild.

Swinub can be found in the following locations:

How to evolve Swinub into Mamoswine in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

Mamoswine is the last of the Ancient Power evolutions and a solid Pokémon for players to add to their team. Once you have Swinub, it’ll need to evolve into Piloswine. Simply get it to level 33 to do so. Once it’s a Piloswine, head to Pastoria City and visit the Move Reminder. This is the only way to give Piloswine Ancient Power outside of Egg Moves, as it does not learn it at a later level. Once it knows Ancient Power, level up once more and you’ll have a Mamoswine to call your very own.
