Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s Indigo Disk expansion has arrived, taking Trainers to Blueberry Academy off in Unova’s ocean. Though it’s a whole new place with a brand-new attitude you still gotta catch ‘em all and be the best that you can be. Plenty of Pokémon have made their return in the Academy’s unique undersea biomes but perhaps none are as appealing as eight generations of starter Pokémon.

For the first time in a mainline Pokémon title, you can catch every single past starter in the wild. Think of the Shiny hunting and team building possibilities this’ll bring while simultaneously eliminating the need to transfer them through Pokémon Home!

Below we’ll be sharing where you can find each of these partner Pokémon and what you’ll need to do to access them.

How do I unlock starter Pokémon in the Indigo Disk?

Unfortunately,  you won’t have access to the starter Pokémon right away when you start exploring Blueberry Academy. On top of all the requirements to access this content in the first place, you’ll have to play through its storyline up to a certain point.

Once the character Drayton introduces you to the Blueberry Academy League Club’s Support Board you’ll be close to meeting these familiar favorites. Check out the requests on the board and find four all labeled “Terrarium Club.” These will each specify one of the Terrarium’s Biomes — the distinct environmental habitats for various Pokémon.

All of these requests require 3,000 BP to fulfill, so it’ll take some time to access all of them. Read on to learn which Biomes you should unlock first if you’re interested in a specific starter or want to get as many species as fast as possible.

Where can I find starter Pokémon in the Indigo Disk?

Blueberry Academy’s Terrarium is divided into quadrants, with each of its four portions housing some of the starters. Once you’ve updated the corresponding biome you’ll be able to find that specific batch of starters there.

The majority house six different starter Pokémon, though the Polar Biome has seven and the Canyon Biome only has five. If you’ve no preference for a specific species then Polar will get you the most variety as a first pick.

Can starter Pokémon in the Indigo Disk be Shiny?

They can! As these are standard wild Pokémon encounters all the established rules of Shiny rates apply to them within the Indigo Disk. That means an easier time than ever getting them into certain Poké Balls and all the conveniences of Mass Outbreaks are here for anyone discovering the Hidden Treasure of Area Zero.
