This morning saw the release of the final trailer for the second part of Pokémon Scarlet & Violet’s DLC The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, titled The Indigo Disk. The trailer detailed a few new ways to play that will debut in The Indigo Disk and a few new gifts and events Trainers can look forward to this month.

Perhaps most surprising is a new feature called the Synchro Machine, which will allow you to actually play as a Pokémon. This prototype machine, developed by a scientist in the Terarium, will be able to be used to see the world through the eyes of your Pokémon, allowing you to move around and battle wild Pokémon while essentially playing as one of your Pokémon. Trainers will have to reach a certain point in the DLC to be able to utilize the Synchro Machine.

Koraidon and Miraidon will also be able to gain the power of flight in The Indigo Disk. All that’s required will be for Trainers to take on an Elite Trial set by Amarys of the Blueberry Elite Four. While at first the power of flight is a temporary ability, apparently completing certain objectives and progressing far enough along your journey will make it permanent.

The Indigo Disk will also introduce the ability to catch several Legendary Pokémon from earlier games in the series, facilitated by a character named Snacksworth. If you complete different Blueberry Quests (BBQs) at the Terarium, Snacksworth will reward you with special snacks that will allow you to encounter various Legendary Pokémon back in Paldea.

New features aren’t all that was in store for Trainers from this morning’s Pokémon news, as there are several active and upcoming events that were announced. First off, Trainers can add both a Shiny Lucario and a Darkrai to their team through Mystery Gift, using the codes SH1NYBUDDY (expires January 3rd, 2024 at 3:59 p.m. PT)  and NEWM00N1SCOM1NG (expires December 21st, 2023 at 3:59 p.m. PT), respectively.

Trainers can also receive a Master Ball through Mystery Gift starting on December 14th, 2023, simply by accessing Mystery Gift and selecting the “Get via Internet” option. This Master Ball will be available until January 3rd, 2024 at 3:59 p.m. PT.

There are also two Mass Outbreak events occurring right now, with one more on the way once The Indigo Disk releases on December 14th. Trainers can encounter mass outbreaks of Flabébé in the Paldea region and Mass Outbreaks of Litwick in Katakami right now, and once Blueberry Academy opens with the release of The Indigo Disk, Trainers will be able to encounter Mass Outbreaks of Milcery at Blueberry Academy. All three Mass Outbreak events will take place until December 21st, 2023 at 3:59 p.m. PT.

Finally, a new Tera Raid Battle event is underway right now. Both Palkia and Dialga are available to fight as 5-star Tera Raid Battles. Keep in mind that the two Tera Raid Battles are version exclusive – players who play Pokémon Scarlet will encounter Dialga Tera Raids, while players of Pokémon Violet will encounter Palkia Tera Raids. Of course, utilizing Nintendo Switch Online or local communication, Pokémon Scarlet & Violet players will be able to invite players of the opposite version into a Tera Raid Battle, giving trainers a chance to catch both Legendary Pokémon. Make sure you check out our Palkia and Dialga Tera Raid Battle Guide to get all the information about this new Tera Raid Battle event.

The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero Part Two: The Indigo Disk drops in just a week, and I can’t wait for all the new features and events coming along with it.
