Shrines were such an integral part of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild that they’re often one of the first things I think of when I look back on my time with that game. They housed puzzles for players to solve and essentially served as “mini-dungeons” in a Zelda game that didn’t really have any dungeons to speak of. Completing them rewarded Link with Spirit Orbs, which could be collected and exchanged for new Heart Containers or Stamina Wheel upgrades. Shrines also served as fast-travel points, providing quick and easy access to many areas of Hyrule.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, being the sequel to Breath of the Wild, brings Shrines back to the land of Hyrule, only this time there are even more to be found, and each and every one is in an entirely new location.
How many Shrines of Light are in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom?
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom features 152 Shrines of Light dotted across Hyrule and the Sky above it. These Shrines of Light will each reward Link with one Light of Blessing, which can be exchanged for Heart Containers or Stamina Vessels at Goddess Statues.
As in Breath of the Wild, some of these shrines contain puzzles that will test Link’s new abilities, Ultrahand, Fuse, Ascend, and Recall, others will test Link’s combat abilities in battle against Zonai Constructs, and some will be found as a result of sidequests or particularly difficult puzzles outside of the Shrine, rewarding Link with a Light of Blessing simply for finding and entering the Shrine.
