So you’ve defeated massive enemies, scaled the tallest mountains in Hyrule and even met a God! What’s next for the Hylian adventurer who’s done everything? It’s time for Link to put up his feet and relax with a home of his very own! A side-quest called “Hylian Homeowner” exists in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild which, after completion, grants Link a house of his very house — right in Hateno Village! Here’s just what you need to do to finish this quest.
1. Go to Hateno Village
First things first, make your way to Hateno Village and head southwest to Firly Pond. Across a rickety old bridge stands what soon could be your very own house. The crew is in the process of tearing the old place down, but luckily, you can persuade everyone to consider an alternative.
2. Speak to Bolson
Head around to the back of the house to find the construction crew’s leader, Bolson. After a quick negotiation, Bolson agrees to sell you the property for the low price of 3,000 Rupees and 30 bundles of wood.
Head over to the nearest forest and start cutting down some trees. If you’re short on weapons, most stables have a spare axe lying around that you can use to start chopping the wood you’re going to need. And if you want to go the super easy route, you can simply blow up a bunch of trees using Link’s unlimited bombs. After collecting the 30 bundles of wood and the 3,000 Rupees, head back to Bolson to seal the deal and become a true Hylian homeowner.
Owning a house is only the beginning; a house isn’t truly a home until you get it upgraded and furnished.
Upgrading your house
After you purchase your lovely new house, it’s time to get that bad boy upgraded. Luckily, talking to Bolson will allow you to make various upgrades to your home for 100 Rupees each. You can upgrade the following:
Mount displays
- Weapon mount x3
- Bow mount x3
- Shield mount x3
Furnishings
- Bed
- Door
- Light fixtures
Exterior upgrades
- Flowers
- Trees
- Placard with Link’s name on it
After you purchase all of the upgrades for your brand new home, Bolson will throw in some free furniture to make your home even more detailed. Benefits of owning your own home include a cool place to show off your gear, a free bed to restore your hearts, and of course, bragging rights.
