During today’s Nintendo Direct, we received a major reveal over the Kingdom Hearts series!
To begin, Kingdom Hearts I, II and III are all coming to Switch 2 as non-cloud versions. The three collections, HD 1.5 + 2.5 Remix, HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, and 3 + ReMind will all be available on October 8th, 2026. A bundle with all three collections will be available for purchase on the same day. A free demo of Kingdom Hearts 3 + ReMind will be available later today on the eShop.
That, however, wasn’t the big reveal during today’s event. Right after the first bit of news, we got a first look at gameplay of the upcoming Kingdom Hearts IV, four years after the initial announcement of the game. Some character models were shown amidst Sora’s battle against a giant Heartless in Quadratum, along with the reveal that Kingdom Hearts IV will be available on Nintendo Switch 2 at launch.
While we didn’t get a release date, this was an unprecedented announcement. Xbox and PlayStation both had showcases along with Summer Game Fest, so to see a trailer for Kingdom Hearts IV during the Direct is HUGE. More information should hopefully come soon, but as we know with Square Enix and the Kingdom Hearts games, it may be a long time before we get anything else.
