They’re finally here, performing for you. Yes, that’s right, it’s the DK Crew, and they’re coming to Nintendo Switch Online after years of fans begging for it. Nintendo announced last night that Donkey Kong 64 will join its online subscription service on June 4th, 2026, for subscribers to the Expansion Pack tier.

The only DK game released for the N64, the history of its development and its notoriety for being a super bloated collect-a-thon make it an interesting curio in Nintendo’s history. This is the last DK game that Rare developed before being bought by Microsoft, though work had reportedly started on DK Racing for the GameCube (which actually has a screenshot on the back of the GameCube’s original packaging). I remember loving it as a kid, but I kind of dread returning to it nearly 30 years later.

Still, we’ll soon have the opportunity to play it again when it finally hits NSO. As with other classic games on Switch, players will notice higher resolution output and slightly improved performance. DK64 did run a little wobbly with its frame rate, so it might be a smooth 30 fps now. You can also rebind all the controls, so dealing with the funky N64 gamepad shouldn’t be a hindrance.

If nothing else, you can now bust out the DK Rap on the go.
