Welcome back to the Wire Weekly, where I, Ben “*Kricketune cry*” Fruzzetti, run through the week’s assortment of Nintendo news with what could charitably be referred to as wit, sarcasm, and personality.

What happened this week?

Okay, it wasn’t like nothing happened. Two pretty great games — Cadence of Hyrule and My Friend Pedro — got released. There are a few E3 interviews that went up after the fact, like those for Luigi’s Mansion 3, Astral Chain, Animal Crossing, and Zelda. But all the capital-A Announcements? Those were last week. Now we just have… uh… Wario drugs to report on.
Less wholesome than this version, somehow.
Actually, speaking of, we did have one bit of actual news this week with the unveiling of Dr. Mario World. It looks… okay? Nintendo mobile properties really seem of zigzaggy quality. Things were promising at the beginning, with both Super Mario Run and Fire Emblem Heroes showing potential in what the company could do going forward, but a lot of their offerings since have languished a bit more (and FEH, in my opinion, has gotten a bit bloated). Dragalia Lost feels like the only bonafide success since that initial wave — hopefully Cygames works more with Nintendo in the future. As for Dr. Mario World, well… the designs are pretty slick, at least.

Besides that, it’s all pretty much news of the weird, or odd little tidbits here and there. Did you know that the dog in Super Mario Odyssey is a Nintendog? I did not. Did you know that the swirling green stuff in the BotW2 trailer was Gerudo text? News to me. Did you know that Nintendo is suing a company for offering copyright-infringing real life Mario Kart races? First I’ve heard of it — though, let’s be honest, that idea sounds super cool.

Besides that, there’s… lots of fan art of Ganondorf drinking water and an indie game music concert I desperately wish I had the time and money to attend. Though they probably should have picked a better name for it, as its current one brings a certain YouTube channel to mind instead of beautiful musical arrangements. But hey, that’s just a theory… a lame theory.
