A three-year-old Super Mario 64 speedrun world record has just been topped – by the same player who set the benchmark in the first place.

Speedrunner Suigi cleared the popular platformer with 16 Power Stars in 14 minutes and 32 seconds, shaving three seconds off the previous 2023 record.

 

 

Suigi is a dominant force in Super Mario 64 speedrunning, sitting at the top of every full-game category on Speedrun.com

 

“I beat that record! Oh my god! It’s over! I actually can’t believe that sh*t’s over!” Suigi said ecstatically upon completing the achievement.

 

 

Last month, a fan ported Super Mario 64 to the Nintendo DS in its original form, complete with a custom-made multiplayer mode.
