Nintendo has issued a new update for the Switch version of Super Mario Galaxy 2, which adds new story content 16 years after its original Wii release.
Updating to Version 1.4.0 will add a brand-new chapter to Rosalina’s storybook, titled “Epilogue.” It can be accessed when the book’s Final Chapter is unlocked, which is achieved by collecting the first Power Star in World S.
The update also includes some unspecified bug fixes and “and adjustments made to ensure a smoother gaming experience.”

The Epilogue sees Rosalina heading to the garden alone after having a premonition that a new star would soon be born. She spots two streaks of light chasing playing in the sky, which begin circling each other until they transform into two suns and bathe the garden in light. A young girl appears by Rosalina’s side, and asks her when she’ll meet her “special someone.”
While the girl isn’t named, many believe it to be Princess Peach, with the new chapter tying into the events of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. This also lines up nicely with Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto stating last week that he wants to incorporate the movie’s lore into future Mario games.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is reportedly releasing digitally on video-on-demand platforms on Tuesday, May 5th, according to sources close to movie news website When to Stream.
