It appears that the rumors were true. Nintendo and Lego both made a joint announcement yesterday that the “Mario Kart – Mario & Standard Kart” kit is, in fact, the next addition to the Lego Super Mario range for Adults. While the rumors were accurate about how many pieces this set would include, which is a whopping 1972, it did get the price and release date wrong. This set will actually be available starting May 15th, 2025, and it will cost an eye-watering $249.99. Ouch.

Even still, the attention to detail with this set is pretty remarkable. I know that Lego can be molded into literally anything, but often there are angular edges that give Lego figures a distinct look. This kit is practically a 3D render ripped from the DS. Mario even has rounded edges on his face! Just awesome stuff.

I don’t know that I personally have the patience to build a Lego kit this extensive, but I am tempted to buy it. Nintendo and Lego’s collaborations in the past few years have been very charming and I hope the two companies continue to work together on future projects. It would be neat to see a mega kit like this for Zelda.
