As announced earlier in the week, Lego held a small stream for MAR10 Day that unveiled what was next for Lego Mario. The video may be slightly cringe-inducing, but the lineup of new sets looks to further capitalize on all of the nostalgia surrounding Lego Mario. First up was the Bowser Train set, followed by Big Boo’s Haunt, then a booster pack dubbed Battle with Roy at Peach’s Castle.

Bowser Train Lego Set

The Bowser Train set is based on Bowser’s delightfully over-the-top method of transportation as seen in Super Mario 3D World. It even features the same dinner car where some Goombas are enjoying tea. Not being well versed in Lego Mario, I’m unsure if the Hammer Bros. or item boxes are new additions, but builders can place them around the train cars as they see fit. One cool little touch is that when moving the main train car, it will not only play a train sound effect, but the smoke puff from the smoke stack will move up and down.

Big Boo’s Haunt Lego Set

Next up in the video was Big Boo’s Haunt, a level that was featured in Super Mario 64. While there appears to be some similarity to the 64 level, the video focused on Luigi’s adventures within the spooky house. Not much was actually shown off, but there is a cool floating chair that will scare Luigi if he sits on it. Dry Bones also gets thrown in, further upping the scare factor. There is also a locked chest, likely indicating that Big Boo, himself, will hold the key.

Battle with Roy at Peach’s Castle Lego Set

The final major part of Lego’s video was what the announcer called Battle with Roy at Peach’s Castle. This is likely not another full set, but a booster pack for the existing Peach’s Castle playset. If you couldn’t guess from the name, it will introduce Lego Roy, completing the Koopaling’s and giving players even more enemies for Mario to thwart. I guess Roy loves to smash buildings because he is shown knocking down a portion of Peach’s castle.

Mario Kart Lego Set

While you would think that Lego Mario Kart would be the biggest part of this announcement today, sadly Lego isn’t ready to talk about it. The video ends with a teaser showing a go-kart and then throwing up a “Coming in 2025” text crawl. That’s a bummer, but it does at least show that Lego won’t be sunsetting its collaboration with Nintendo anytime soon. The possibilities really are endless for a Lego Mario Kart, so that should be fun when we finally get to see it.
