Nintendo Switch has had its most profitable year yet. 2023 was full of first-party heavy hitters for the portable console. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of The Kingdom is the biggest among these titles, as it has been revealed that it was the best-selling game of the year in Japan with 1.896.310 copies sold.

Behind Tears of The Kingdom is an almost entirely Nintendo Switch-comprised top 15. The only exception is Final Fantasy XVI on PlayStation 5 which is in the number 9 spot. Super Mario Bros. Wonder and Pikmin 4 take number 2 and number 3 respectively.

Pokèmon Scarlet/Pokèmon Violet are each in number 4, with the second DLC expansion set to arrive this week on December 14th. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe rounds out the top 5 after a long streak of being the Switch’s top seller. An impressive run for a ten year-old game and six year-old port.
