It’s Day 3 of covering the three new special weapons for Splatoon 3. Introduced to us last week during the Splatoon 3 Direct (along with the Tacticooler and Wave Breaker), the Squid Research Lab is now setting its sights on the Reefslider. They also have what is the best descriptor for this splatdown of a special weapon, calling it an “exploding shark motorcycle”. Um, yes, I love it. Booyah!
While we did see it in action last week, today we get a better look at its in-game model thanks to a short turnaround video.
Linguistics just informed us that "Weapon Wednesday" isn't a thing. To make up for this misstep, here's footage of the Reefslider in action! Notice the brief moment of vulnerability at activation, followed by invulnerability until detonation. And no steering! Aim carefully… pic.twitter.com/8G06vGGmDB

It appears that while the Reefslider can dole out some serious ink and damage, there’s a chance to splat the Inkling or Octoling operating the destructive pool float. As noted by the Squid Research Lab, there are a few seconds when activating the Reefslider doesn’t guarantee invulnerability. So when up against one, that’s when it’s time to strike. And if you miss… swim away! The lack of steering is also something to take into consideration – you don’t want to accidentally launch yourself out of bounds on the map (and into a watery demise like in Mahi-Mahi Resort).
Give the Reefslider a spin, after spin, after spin, when Splatoon 3 launches on Friday, September 9th. Of course, there’s always a chance that it (along with the Tacticooler and Wave Breaker) could make it into the special weapon line-up during the special Splatoon 3 Splatfest World Premiere on Saturday, August 27th.
