The theme park business has had a tumultuous time during the pandemic, but surprisingly few parks have utilized the time to expand, even if some (lookin’ at you Disney) have overhauled other aspects. In this sense, Universal Studios Hollywood is a rarity, as construction on its Super Nintendo World expansion is progressing and is set to open next year, in 2023.

This comes after the opening of Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Japan last year, and the Hollywood site will presumably have similar attractions with more localized shopping and dining options. The size of the expansion is currently unknown but is taking place in the lower lot of the park, replacing several soundstages. In fact, lots of details are currently scarce in regards to what the Hollywood park will look like exactly, forcing us to base assumptions off of what the park in Japan is like.

This appears to be only the first phase of drumming up hype for the project, so reveals and more are undoubtedly on the way. We’ll be sure to provide any news as it comes to light.
