After a hint of something from creator Shigesato Itoi, today’s Nintendo Direct revealed a double dose of Mother for Switch owners. Both EarthBound and EarthBound Beginnings will make their way to the Switch Online service’s digital libraries. Not only that, they’re making their way…today!
Normally, Nintendo is content to announce these sorts of NES and SNES additions in quick videos as they come, but the Mother series instead got itself a primetime slot in the Direct. Definitely fitting for how beloved the series is, though there’s still that sense that something’s missing…
Look forward to setting out with Ness, Ninten, and all their friends when these pair of RPG classics become playable for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers later today.
