It’s been a long three years since Windjammers 2 was announced, but our universal struggle is almost over. A new trailer for the game dropped which finally reveals the game’s release date: January 20th, 2022.
Developed and published by Dotemu, this sequel takes the cult favorite ’90s arcade classic and polishes it to a mirror sheen. The game features beautiful hand-drawn sprites and wonderfully over-the-top effects to make sure every flying disc feels like a nuke from space. The trailer also highlights the various new mechanics, with lots of new defensive options added this time around.
I wrote my impressions of the Nintendo Switch version of the original game a while back, and, being a huge fan of the game, I can’t wait to get my hands on this new one!
