James Turner is a name that many Pokémon fans have come to recognize, having most recently served as Pokémon Sword and Shield art director. Turner also has a long history with the franchise prior to the latest mainline installments, as he recently demonstrated in his latest art tribute to 2003’s Pokémon Colosseum.

The illustration features the game’s protagonist, Wes, along with his Espeon and Umbreon. Pokémon Colosseum was the first Pokémon game that Turner worked on, and he would become even more heavily involved with its direct sequel, Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness. Turner also recently shared his experiences helping design XD’s Shadow Lugia along with some minor characters, and creating the game’s opening cutscene.

Turner also contributed artwork to the Hello Ponyta! toy line revealed last month, and shared an adorable Pokémon/Star Wars mashup illustration in celebration of this year’s Star Wars Day.

A lifelong Nintendo fan and a longtime editor at Zelda Universe, Reece will forever be grateful that he somehow dodged the Naughty List of Christmas 1998, when Santa delivered the life-changing gift of a Nintendo 64 with Super Mario 64, Banjo-Kazooie, and Mario Kart 64. When he's not playing games, Reece is usually reading Punisher comics, delving helplessly into the weirdest depths of anime and manga, or spending time with his cocker spaniel Gracie -- the goodest girl ever!
