Customization in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is extensive. Having the ability to carve out your own island is possible and there have been some stunning designs and methods used since the game’s release. Going back to the series’ roots, customization was limited to clothing and patterns. So this new design “just about anything” portion of New Horizons is a big hit among players; it’s ripe with cosplay outfits, recreating historical clothing — even bringing high-end fashion labels from the runway to a digital island.

Websites and social media accounts have been created to try and organize custom designs that have been shared online. One popular popular account on Instagram is keeping things simple by just recreating the 2020 spring, summer, and pre-fall fashion season. Dubbed the Animal Crossing Fashion Archive, this account has gone from fans submitting recreated designs to officially working with Valentino and Marc Jacobs fashion brands. It doesn’t stop there either, as both companies have advertised the collaboration on their social media and shared the design codes for everyone to download.

Between Bobby Berk tweeting out interior design advice, The Met making its art collection into downloadable QR codes to be scanned and imported into the game, the Museum of Rural English Life collecting smock designs, and Fangamer turning their t-shirts into designs you can hang up at the Able Sisters; we’re just a design or two away from Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Project Runway collab. If that’s not possible, then perhaps a Great British Bake Off crossover utilizing all those delicious cake hat designs needs to happen!
