The Animal Crossing: New Horizons festivities have officially begun in Pocket Camp! This morning brought us the crossover fishing tournament, giving us some interaction with the Nooks, as well as our first island tie-in items. And that’s not all we’ll be getting this month!

Tucked away in the ‘Events Coming Soon’ section in-game, you’ll find a very intriguing mention of new animals headed to the game, expected to happen in mid-March. While the addition of characters to Pocket Camp happens on a regular basis, this particular wave is extra exciting, as the somewhat more elaborated note about the newbies mentions that the update includes eight new animals from New Horizons. Have a look:

What makes this notice really eye-catching is the inclusion of the new pink and blue starry-eyed cub that we’ve only received glimpses of in the past. Getting a closeup look at more of the new animals in Pocket Camp is going to be a blast! Not to mention, finally knowing what more of their names are will really make the new game’s release feel all the more real.

As mentioned in our previous articles about the Pocket Camp and New Horizons crossover, you can expect a to see a number of tie-ins between both games throughout the month of March, leading into April. Nintendo’s press release states the following:

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Island Excursion Invite Event – Fans can prepare for the release of the Animal Crossing: New Horizons game for the Nintendo Switch system with the newly added Island Excursion Invite event in the Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp game* for smartphone devices. From now until April 1 at 10:59 p.m. PT, players can get an early taste of that relaxing island lifestyle with special in-game events themed after Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Participate in Nook Inc.’s Fishing Tourney to earn in-game rewards for your campsite, catch some crawly critters featured in Animal Crossing: New Horizons and craft stylish island-themed wall and flooring décor, among many fun themed activities.”

With Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ release and mid-March nearly here, we can all look forward to seeing a bunch of new animals in both games. It’s an exciting time to be an Animal Crossing player for sure!
