Later this week, Capcom will finally be releasing its trio of modern Resident Evil remakes on Switch 2, bringing fans mostly up to date with the series’ lore. Announced back in the September Direct, Resident Evil 2, 3, and 4 will be available to download starting October 16th, 2026, and you won’t need to clear up a ton of storage if you plan on buying all three.

As revealed on the eShop pages for each game, the total file size for all three comes out to 55.9 GB, which is roughly equal to Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5+2.5, and considerably less than Final Fantasy VII Revelation. Broken down further, Resident Evil 2 will occupy 14 GB, Resident Evil 3 only 12.9 GB, and Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition 29 GB. RE4 being the largest makes sense as, even back in the day, the original RE4 was one of the longer games in the series. It also has a full DLC campaign which, while not even half as long as the base campaign, is roughly equal in length to Resident Evil 3.

As Nintendo Life points out, Resident Evil Requiem only required 28.7 GB for its install, so Capcom has a handle on managing file sizes. That’s great, too, as Capcom’s latest games have all been very good. I could see bouncing between a bunch of them at once, especially since full playthroughs don’t take eons to complete. Its Switch 2 conversions have also been very good, as evidenced by our reviews for Requiem, Pragmata, and Onimusha: Way of the Sword.
