Overwatch’s long-time director, Jeffrey Kaplan, stepped down from his position and left Blizzard Entertainment quite abruptly last month, with the company naming Aaron Keller as Kaplan’s successor. Keller has been serving as Overwatch 2’s assistant director and has worked alongside Kaplan dating all the way back to their World of Warcraft development days.

Keller has now made his first announcement as the new director, and it’s a pretty exciting one for fans of the hero shooter. In a short video, Keller announced that an Overwatch 2 livestream will air next week, and will showcase changes to the game’s formula that will be coming to the player-versus-player side of the title. This will be the first new info we’ve seen from Overwatch 2 since its massive PVE blowout livestream during BlizzCon back in February.

Alongside the announcement of the gameplay presentation, an Overwatch anniversary AMA will be held on Tuesday, May 24th on the Overwatch Reddit page to celebrate the original title’s fifth anniversary.

“From new maps to major gameplay updates, we’re reinvigorating the core Overwatch experience. Hosted by Matt “Mr. X” Morello and Mitch “Uber” Leslie, viewers will join Game Director – Aaron Keller, Lead Hero Designer – Geoff Goodman and Associate Art Director – Dion Rogers as they share live Overwatch 2 gameplay for a 2-hour livestream experience. The livestream will also feature guest appearances by Overwatch content-creators Stylosa, and Cuppcaake!

And join us on May 24th for our development AMA on Reddit celebrating 5 great years of Overwatch.”

The Overwatch 2 PVP livestream will air Thursday, May 20th at 12 p.m. PT on the official Overwatch YouTube and Twitch channels.
