Pokémon UNITE, the multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game developed by TiMi Studio Group and published by The Pokémon Company, has announced its end-of-service plans this morning, shared on the official Pokémon UNITE website. Both the Nintendo Switch and mobile versions of Pokémon UNITE will end service on March 23rd, 2027 00:00 UTC, translating to 5 p.m. PT | 7 p.m. ET on March 22nd, 2027.

With the announcement of end-of-service, several immediate changes will be taking place in Pokémon UNITE, namely the suspension of Aeos Gem sales, the suspension of new UNITE Club membership purchases, as well as the suspension of automatic renewals of existing UNITE Club memberships. Essentially, any way to spend money in Pokémon UNITE has been discontinued, effective immediately. Currently active UNITE Club memberships can continue to use their membership benefits until the end of their membership, at which point it will not renew.

To ensure players can continue to enjoy Pokémon UNITE until the end-of-service, a special event has been announced that will run from Thursday, November 12th, 2026 until the end-of-service. This event will feature obtainable Unite Licenses (playable Pokémon) and Holowear that has appeared in the entire history of Pokémon UNITE. The event will also include a library feature, allowing players to download data that will facilitate the ability to continue to log in to Pokémon UNITE and view “certain records and in-game content.” The library content will need to be downloaded before service ends in order to be viewable. Additionally, the library data will not be able to be transferred to new devices and there will not be any additional support for the library feature after end-of-service.

Launched for Nintendo Switch on July 21st, 2021 and for mobile on September 22nd, 2021, Pokémon UNITE enjoyed just over five years of service, during which it was added as a competitive event at the Pokémon World Championships each year following its launch. Pokémon UNITE was awarded “Mobile Game of the Year” at the 25th Annual D.I.C.E. Awards and “Best Game” in Google Play’s Best of 2021 awards. Also nominated for “Best Mobile Game” during the 2021 Game Awards, Pokémon UNITE lost that award to Genshin Impact.
