Remember that ludicrous life-sized Sonic DNA statue we reported on a few months ago? No? Well, I don’t blame you, because that still sounds like something I made up while nursing a cold after drinking too much Nyquil. Sadly, the statue is real, and it can soon be yours for the low, low price of $20,000. Wow, I’ll take ten!
As reported by Dexerto, Sega will be prepping a smaller sized version of the DNA statue for fans to add to their collection. Including the same technology used for the larger statue (which is housed at Sega’s Shibuya store in Tokyo), you can celebårate the 35th anniversary of the Blue Blur by buying a recreation for ¥3,300,000, which comes out to $20,845. That’s not even factoring in shipping or import fees.
The cut down statue stands at 9.8 inches tall, which is a far cry from Sonic’s official height of 3.3 ft. Reservations for the statue are currently live on Kadokawa’s Store with a shipping fee of ¥66,000, or roughly $416. Payment will be available only via credit card, and purchases are obviously limited to one per customer. If you live in Japan, Sagawa Express will be delivering direct to your door and will contact you by phone when your statue ships. Everything is made-to-order, so once reservations close, they’re gone.

As should be clear, the high price tag is because of the very specialized nature of this statue. I still don’t know how I feel about Sonic having DNA, but I guess certain fans would be thrilled to have an actual part of Sonic hanging around their homes. I still fear that it may come to life at one point, and we don’t need Sonic running around in our actual lives.
