A creative modder has transformed a pair of Wii Remotes into fully functional Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Con.

YouTuber KOUZEX took the shells of two of Nintendo’s iconic motion-sensing controllers and replaced their innards with Joy-Con 2 components, in order to play the Switch 2 with what feel like enhanced Wii Remotes.

While the Wii Remote button layouts were mostly left intact, the DIY enthusiast implemented the Joy-Con 2 joysticks to give the controllers full analogue control. They even snap onto the Switch 2 system via the magnetized rail, just as regular Joy-Con do.

KOUZEX runs through the entire build process in the video. Combining the controllers was an arduous task, requiring plenty of assembling, carving, soldering, and trial and error. The hard work paid off, however, as the end result seems fully functional.

“They feel even better than I thought they would, and they look exactly how I had pictured,” KOUZEX said of the completed project.

“Honestly, I’m not even mad that this is now my only pair of Joy-Cons.”

KOUZEX has shared a number of other impressive Nintendo hybrids like this one on his channel. Just last week, he converted a popular Fisher-Price children’s toy into a working Game Boy Color.
