Out of nowhere, Nintendo has announced that players who complete the entire set of challenges in “DK Challenge” by September 1, 2026, will be eligible to receive a pack of physical cards to commemorate their achievement (and it doesn’t even cost any platinum coins!). Based on the 39 challenges present in DK Challenge, these cards act as physical reminders the games you’ve played and come in a specially marked DK box. Talk about a fun twist on achievements/trophies.
If you’re unfamiliar with DK Challenge, it launched back in June as part of a new initiative for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers. Available to Switch 2 owners, it tasks players with completing specific goals in not only Donkey Kong Bananza, but the classic DK games available on NSO apps. It consists of 24 challenges for Bananza (many of which are just beating the game and upgrading your skills), and 15 challenges for retro titles including Donkey Kong, DK Jr., Donkey Kong 3, and the SNES Country trilogy. Essentially, this is Nintendo testing the waters for its own achievement/trophy system, though it is hampered by how clunky the NSO app is.
DK Challenge will be active until September 1, 2026, at 12:59 am PT. You only have a few weeks left to complete all of the challenges, though the retro ones can be achieved in less than an hour.
