Rhythm Heaven Groove has delighted fans of the musical franchise since it launched last week – and a new unexpected fanbase has emerged among the players’ pets.

An online viral trend from Japan, spotted by Automaton, shows videos of cats that are completely mesmerized by the rhythm-based gameplay.

With most of the minigames involving various objects and creatures moving across the screen – from macarons and soccer balls to frogs and butterflies – it’s perhaps no wonder the felines are so fixated.

On the topic of Rhythm Heaven fans in Japan, a new line of series merchandise for the Nintendo Tokyo store was revealed last week, including apparel, bags, keychains, and coasters.

Rhythm Heaven Groove is available now on Nintendo Switch, with a playable demo downloadable from the eShop.
