Yesterday on Reddit in a now deleted post, user conis-4 shared pictures of what appears to be a retail version of Sonic Frontiers: Definitive Edition on Switch 2. Rumored to be announced soon, the pictures look fairly legitimate, though they don’t actually match the previous leaks about the game. For one, there’s no mention of what this Switch 2 version upgrades over the original. For two, the only things included are previously released free updates, making this less a “definitive” version and more just a complete version.
BREAKING: A copy of Sonic Frontiers Definitive Edition for Switch 2 appears to have leaked. #SonicNews
User u/conis-4 has posted some images of a copy of the game they apparently got at their job on the Sonic Frontiers subreddit:

Supposedly taken at a Walmart, the box states, “Experience Sonic like never before,” but then doesn’t mention what the Switch 2 version improves over the previous Switch release. The game is also on a Game-Key Card, which follows suit with most of Sega’s releases on Nintendo’s latest device. The DLC included is the following:
- Sights, Sounds, and Speed
- Sonic’s Birthday Bash
- The Final Horizon Story Campaign
- Bonus in-game items
- Digital art book
- Mini soundtrack
While it’s nice that everything is included, all of those DLC packs were released for free for the other versions. Since this isn’t on a cartridge, either, there’s no real difference to downloading the game and getting everything. Maybe something will change before release, but since a June 23rd date is expected, it might be too late to hope for anything else.
