With the upcoming release of Rayman Legends Retold happening on all platforms, there was a fear that the original version of the game would be delisted from digital storefronts. Thankfully, that isn’t the case, at least according to Ubisoft.
In a response to a fan inquiry on Twitter, the official Rayman account stated, “Nope they’re staying put,” when asked about the original release of Rayman Legends. If you’ll recall, Rayman Legends was released in 2013 on PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii U, though eventually made its way to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. While you’ll probably have trouble finding those first versions, the more modern ports will remain available to buy, download, and play despite an official remake happening.

This actually follows suit with Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, which is set to release in early July for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. During its worldwide reveal stream, Ubisoft confirmed that the original version would remain available for purchase from digital storefronts, which is good for fans as the remake axes the multiplayer component. Remakes might be a great way to revisit an old favorite, but deleting the original from existence is a bad move for preservation.
