With Nintendo becoming less reliant on Direct presentations, it’s no surprise to see announcements of new Switch 2 games coming from ratings boards ahead of any official confirmation. Today is such a case, with the Taiwanese rating board listing BoxBoy! + BoxGirl! for Nintendo Switch 2 among its new releases.

Users on ResetEra made the discovery earlier this morning and captured a screenshot of the rating in case it gets removed at some point. Strangely, the release date is listed as “2025/09/09,” which is actually when the Switch original launched in Taiwan. There’s every chance this listing is an error, but seeing as how BoxBoy! + BoxGirl! just turned seven, I could see Nintendo doing an update for its new console.

The main reason people are getting excited is that Nintendo did a limited run of a BoxBoy amiibo for the series’ Switch installment. With that amiibo no longer in production, the only way to obtain it is via third-party sellers and… well, I hope you’ve set aside $350-500 for it. If this Switch 2 version is real, maybe Nintendo will issue a new amiibo to release alongside it.
