Final Fantasy VII has received an update to all available platforms. The patch (1.03 for Switch, 1.04 for all other platforms) removes all sharing restrictions that would block users from recording certain cutscenes. Why was a sharing restriction in place to begin with, for a game that’s a re-release? It all has to do with one iconic scene.
In Final Fantasy VII, one of your party members is killed off by the main villain, Sephiroth. Even if you’re not a Final Fantasy fan, you’ve likely heard of this scene or viewed parts of it online. This scene has been completely blocked for recording on any platform until now.
To be honest, I don’t really know why this scene was blocked from recording, as it currently exists online. Square Enix could have realized this too, which may have led to the patch.
Whatever the reason may be, you can now play and replay Aerith’s untimely death to your heart’s content! Final Fantasy VII is currently on sale in the eShop if you haven’t already added it to your collection.
