Just in time to celebrate the Halloween season, indie developer Toby Fox has announced that the third and fourth chapters of Deltarune “will 100% come out” in 2025. In a post on Twitter with an exclusive illustration from artist Temmie, Fox made the announcement and noted that the specific timing of this release will be down to localization and console porting. While it’s unlikely that Fox is referring to December 2025, there is always a possibility it will take another year.

For those out of the loop, Deltarune is the followup to Undertale, though it isn’t connected narratively. The first chapter was released as a free demo in 2018 and the intention was to have a full release with multiple chapters within a year or so. Since game development is ridiculously hard, it’s taken the better part of a decade for these next two chapters to materialize.

You can currently play Deltarune’s first and second chapters on PC, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch for free. While there isn’t a set length for the game yet, it is speculated that Deltarune could wind up being seven chapters long. At any rate, we’ll be seeing a continuation in 2025.

Impressions: Deltarune is (and isn’t) exactly what you’d expect from an Undertale followup
