If you’re a fan of JRPGs, odds are you’ve at least heard of Dragon Quest at some point. As one of the longest-running video game franchises of all time, the series has made a name for itself worldwide over the years. Given that today marks the 38th anniversary of the first game’s release, many fans were eagerly hoping for some news about upcoming games, and indeed they did not disappoint. A new teaser for Dragon Quest III HD-2D was shown, suggesting the game will be coming very soon.

The teaser comes in the form of a short video posted to the Dragon Quest Twitter account, and while it shows no gameplay footage, it does provide some interesting information. Towards the end of the video it is shown that the game will be released on multiple platforms, including Nintendo Switch, PS5, Xbox, Steam, and Windows. Given the looming concern as to which platforms the game would be available on at launch, this is excellent news for all who are interested.

Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake announced for worldwide release – and it is gorgeous!

While there isn’t a whole lot of information provided here, it is a huge sigh of relief for fans of the series. Dragon Quest III HD-2D was announced all the way back in 2021 for the 35th anniversary livestream, and has been nearly unheard of for the past three years since then. Between this and the similarly quiet Dragon Quest XII, a lot of anticipation and concern has built up among the fanbase. Fortunately with this new teaser, the end is finally in sight and a new way to experience a classic adventure is almost here.
