With the release of the Princess Peach: Showtime! demo on the eShop today, fans have been doing some digging within the game’s files and have made a couple of discoveries. The biggest of these is a codename for the game, which is PJ037. While that normally wouldn’t mean much, that specific string of letters and digits happens to be very similar to how developer Good-Feel titles its productions.

Twitter user Yakumono even brings up a few other of Good-Feel’s past codenames. Yoshi’s Crafted World went by PJ033 while Kirby’s Extra Epic Yarn was titled PJ040. I wouldn’t read into the numbers being some signifier of when development started as it could be based on literally anything. The pattern of “PJ” followed by digits matches up, though.

Lending more credence to this speculation is that Good-Feel has almost exclusively released games on Nintendo’s consoles. The only game to make it to PC, 2019’s Monkey Barrels, is also a Nintendo Switch console exclusive. Nearly every other title developed by the company has been on a Nintendo platform and from a pre-existing Nintendo IP.

When will we know who developed Princess Peach: Showtime!?

We likely won’t be able to confirm Good-Feel’s involvement until Princess Peach: Showtime! releases at the end of March. Why Nintendo is being so cagey about which studios are making games is beyond me, but this happened with both Super Mario RPG and Another Code: Recollection recently. Fans didn’t know until after launch that ArtePiazza and Arc System Works, respectively, worked on those games.
