If you thought the 2023 awards season had wrapped up with the conclusion of the year, you’d be wrong. Though most awards have been, well, awarded, there are still a few to go, including the Game Developers Choice Awards.

What are the Game Developers Choice Awards?

The Game Developers Choice Awards (GDCAs) are a set of game awards nominated and voted on by members of the International Choice Awards Network (ICAN). Hosted during the Game Developers Conference, the GDCAs contain nine awards voted on by members of ICAN, and one award voted on by the audience. The categories are the following:

  • Best Audio
  • Best Debut
  • Best Design
  • Innovation Award
  • Best Narrative
  • Social Impact Award
  • Best Technology
  • Best Visual Art
  • Game of the Year
  • Audience Award

Tears of the Kingdom leads the nominations alongside Baldur’s Gate 3

Already highly acclaimed and awarded, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom may have a few more awards headed its way, with seven nominations at the Game Developers Choice Awards, tying with Baldur’s Gate 3 for most nominations. Tears of the Kingdom is nominated in the following categories:

  • Best Audio
  • Best Design
  • Innovation Award
  • Best Narrative
  • Best Technology
  • Best Visual Art
  • Game of the Year

It’s also possible for the audience to vote for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom for the Audience Award.

The Game Developers Choice Awards winners will be revealed March 20th

The Game Developers Conference 2024 is set to take place in San Francisco from March 18th to 22nd, 2024, and it will play host to the Game Developers Choice Awards on March 20th, when the winners for each category will be announced.
