Things have been fairly quiet for Nintendo at The Game Awards this year, but that doesn’t mean the House of Mario hasn’t brought home some awards. Even Pikmin, a series that is often loved but just as often overlooked, got a surprising but well-deserved dub in the Best Sim/Strategy category.

This one was almost unfairly stacked in Nintendo’s favor, with the likes of Advance Wars and Fire Emblem also sitting in nominee spots. Pikmin 4 getting the win is a welcome twist, especially since it’s far less conventional in this category compared to the other two.
Pikmin 4 joins Super Mario Wonder and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom in Nintendo’s winnings this year, with perhaps more to come! Keep an eye on our Game Awards 2023 coverage just in case.
