One of the greatest highlights of the Super Mario Bros. Movie was Peaches, a heartrending ballad from Jack Black’s Bowser that revealed the innermost romantic turmoils of the King of the Koopas. An immediate hit both in and out of the context of the movie, the song has now reached the utmost level of pop culture relevance: getting covered by Kidz Bop.

It’s a bit funny hearing Black’s deepthroated cries of anguish arranged into more autotuney pop silkiness (especially that scream at the end), but we hope those kids are having fun (and getting paid well). The song is streaming now on Spotify, Apple Music, all such platforms – and you can of course listen to Black’s version on any major streaming platform as well.
