The wild saga of Sonic co-creator, Balan Wonderworld mastermind, and notorious curmudgeon Yuji Naka getting prosecuted for insider trading is beginning to wind down. After being indicted last December, Naka admitted to insider trading in March, but later said that it originated with a secretarial screwup. Now the trial is winding down, and as reported by the Abema Times (via Nintendo Everything), prosecutors are asking for a hefty blow: ¥2.5 million in fines and 2.5 years in prison.

Naka’s lawyers are asking for a reduced fine and a suspended prison sentence: since Naka admitted to the crime, he’s going to receive some manner of retribution. The final decision regarding his sentence will be announced on July 7th. Presumably at some point on the way to jail, he’ll bust out of the helicopter, tear off a board-shaped sheet of metal, and stylishly twirl to the streets below before making his escape from the city.
