On the heels of dropping the company’s latest investor report, Nintendo has fielded queries from investors, and naturally the big question was brought up – will Nintendo be releasing new hardware?

The answer, as reported by Bloomberg (via Eurogamer), is no. Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa confirmed that there are no plans for an upgraded Switch or brand-new hardware before the end of the fiscal year – March 31st, 2024.

The fiscal results did confirm that Switch hardware sales have dropped over the past year, though software and subscription sales have remained mostly strong. Industry analyst Piers Harding-Rolls of Ampere Analysis told Eurogamer that he expects a successor to the Switch to launch in late 2024.

As we’re firmly in the Switch’s seventh year on store shelves, we’ll just have to wait and see what Nintendo and other companies have cooking for the platform.
