We’ve hit the one-week mark! Splatoon 3 is nearly here, launching on Friday, September 9th. And today’s report from the Squid Research Lab (a.k.a. the official Splatoon Twitter account), it’s all about Salmon Run.
The addictive, gotta collect all Power and Golden eggs I can with friends before being splatted by everything game mode returns with some glorious and terrifying upgrades. The Squid Research Lab starts off its four-tweet-long report restating that Splatoon 3’s Salmon Run will be available 24/7. No blackout hours where Grizzco is closed like in Splatoon 2.
SRL HR dept. here. No, it’s not another mandatory seminar about conserving printer toner. Rather, we’re confirming that Salmon Run is available 24/7 in the Splatoon 3 game! That means you can work nonstop to climb the corporate salmon ladder—maybe all the way to Eggsecutive VP! pic.twitter.com/BQGK3Ic2ZA

The next is some brand new information. Looks like Mr. Grizz has updated Salmon Run’s lobby for Splatoon 3! (Probably due to regulations… let’s be honest…) Just like Splatoon 3’s lobby for Turf Wars and Anarchy Battles, Salmon Run’s “break room” will let you try out weapons and perfect the new move, the Egg Throw. You’ll also see “ghosts” of your fellow teammates in the break room too!
We also have info on some new perks, like a break room where you can practice Egg Throws or try out new weapons. And you’ll NEED practice, as a team of Eggsecutive VPs could face a hazard level of 333%! Last but not least, you’ll be able to set up Private Jobs with your friends. pic.twitter.com/F19hREh4Al

The third tweet reminds us of the new Salmonid class, King Salmonid. The chonk that is known as Cohozuna may await you in a bonus round (known as an Xtrawave). This is the first time we’ve seen the payout screen for this type of encounter. Even in defeat, it looks like you and your team will be able to get some fish scales (bronze and silver).
Sadly, it’s not all break rooms and promotions in the working world. Sometimes you have a tough day at the office and get attacked by a King Salmonid. HR recommends fighting it off with an egg cannon (you could earn bonus fish scales) and then taking a personal day. pic.twitter.com/fHy1t4Teaf

Ah yes, fish scales. A brand new currency you can earn in Salmon Run. It’s been mentioned before briefly in the Splatoon 3 Direct and on the official Splatoon 3 website. Here in the last tweet we finally get to see some of the rewards you can buy with ’em, including different work suits!
Now, at the end of the day, it’s all about that paycheck. And we think Salmon Run workers are handsomely rewarded! Diligent employees who have collected fish scales can trade them in for bonus items like designer work suits. As always, we support a healthy work-splat balance. pic.twitter.com/ZowhcROkl4

Yes, now you can suit up in a pink or green work suit! Chances are there will be more different styles, colors, and designs to choose from, but this is the first time we’ve spotted a non-Salmon Run orange and green suit before. Very stylish! That’s not all you can purchase with fish scales (bronze, silver, and gold) though. Taking a page from Hotlantis, Grizzco will also sell decorations for your locker (Green Army Men toys meet Salmonids – yes, please), stickers, and banners (a.k.a. Splashtags).
You’ll be able to dive into the fray and work as many Salmon Run shifts as you want when Splatoon 3 launches only on Nintendo Switch on Friday, September 9th.
