2022 has been a big year for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fans, especially when it comes to games. First, there’s the brand new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, which mixes the nostalgia of many ’90s TMNT games, but crafted in the 21st century. Yet, fans who still yearn for the classics can have their pizza and eat it too thanks to the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection.

Announced earlier this year, followed by the reveal of a snazzy limited edition version in April, the next question has been when will The Cowabunga Collection release? Konami answers that today, as they’re promoting the game at San Diego Comic Con this weekend. Even better, the wait won’t be long, as TMNT: The Cowabunga Collection will be released on Tuesday, August 30th!

The collection includes 13 games in total (or less if you decide to bundle the different console/arcade versions as one game):

  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Arcade)
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time (Arcade)
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (NES)
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game (NES)
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: The Manhattan Project (NES)
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters (NES)
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time (Super Nintendo)
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters (Super Nintendo)
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Hyperstone Heist (Sega Genesis)
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters (Sega Genesis)
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Fall of The Foot Clan (Game Boy)
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: Back From The Sewers (Game Boy)
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: Radical Rescue (Game Boy)

Don’t fret, there is multiplayer support for some games. Konami has confirmed that online functionality will be available for TMNT (Arcade), TMNT: Turtles in Time (Arcade), TMNT: The Hyperstone Heist (Sega Genesis), and TMNT Tournament Fighters (SNES).

In addition to the games, there will also be a Museum mode filled with artwork and other concept documents, even going beyond the games and dabbling in TMNT’s cartoons and comics. IGN has a first look at some of the concept images that’ll be available, so you can get a glimpse of what’ll be available next month.

If you can’t wait till next month and happen to be attending San Diego Comic Con, then you can give the game a play over at the Marriot Marquis San Diego Marina hotel. Konami has set up a gaming lounge (Comic-Con Esports Lounge) in the hotel’s first-floor ballroom (previously rented by Nintendo). You will need a SDCC badge to get inside though.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection will be available on a variety of platforms, including Nintendo Switch, and releases on Tuesday, August 30th.
